《somewhere over the rainbow》是《綠野仙蹤》音樂電影中最膾炙人口的一首歌曲。童話題材的《綠野仙蹤》講述了小姑娘桃樂茜被龍卷風帶入魔幻王國“奧茲國”。在和小夥伴們經曆了一係列冒險後最終安然迴家的故事。
這首《somewhere over the rainbow》在整部電影中共出現過兩次。分別以歌曲和配樂的形式，出現在片頭當小姑娘桃樂茜因為瑣事渴望逃離從小生活的家園，和片尾當經曆過種種冒險終於意識到‘there’s no ce like home’從心底渴望迴家的一刻。第一次出現時是指heaven，世外桃源。結尾時再聆聽則有種曆盡千帆後重新迴歸的感覺。
尾聲離開魔幻王國迴家時桃樂茜說：‘其實僅僅思念或者渴望是遠遠不夠的。如果我從未出發從未踏上重新省事自己內心渴望的旅途的話，我想我的眼睛是看不到我要尋找的東西的，即便它就藏在我的後院裏。這樣看來遠行也不是一件壞事，因為一旦你知道它在哪裏，那麽無論走多遠重新出發多少次都不會迷失方向。’
