海牙山有一個很美的傳說，
從前，海牙山隻是一個很平常的山，它當時不叫海牙山，因為高而陡，所以那裏基本上沒人，人們給它一個很平常的名字——舟山。
舟山上住著一名女孩，她叫海，長得甜美可愛，每天都挑著泉水到山頂為山頂的幾名住戶解渴。
又是豔陽高照的一天，海肩上扛著兩大桶泉水慢悠悠的往山頂走去。
“要我幫忙麽？”一個男孩叫住了她。
海抬頭的第一眼就被麵前這位俊俏的男子迷住了，她嬌羞的點頭：“也好。”
此後的每一天，男孩都來幫助她，他們的感情日益見長。
終於有一天：
“海，嫁給我為妻好麽？”
“好！”
本是一段很美的姻緣，卻在新婚前的那天，新娘海卻因為挑水腳崴，一個沒站穩，便連人帶水一起掉下山，生死不知……
新郎失控的也陪同殉情了，村裏人為紀念他們，便把山的名字換成了‘海牙山’。
‘海’是那個甜美的女孩的名字，‘牙’是這裏的方言，意為：安息永和。
那個懸崖是當初新郎殉情的懸崖，有個很美的名字叫：‘海之崖’。
